The Upper Schuylkill River KOEZ includes portions of University City in and around the University of Pennsylvania, the area around the former Acme Warehouse at 31st and Master Streets and the area adjacent to Amtrak's 30th Street Station in West Philadelphia. |
| The latter, at 80 acres, is by far the largest parcel in this KOEZ. The site was developed in stages as a mixed-use campus with a 1500-car parking garage. Scheduled to start construction by Summer 2002, as a first stage. The second phase, unveiled in May 2002, resulted in the construction of a 32-story office tower known as the Cira Center. The Brandywine Realty Trust property links to Amtrak's 30th Street Station building. It has 600,000 square feet of rentable space. | |
Owned by the University of Pennsylvania, the former Eastern Apparatus building contains 120,000 square feet of space. It is well situated on 31st Street off Chestnut in West Philadelphia. The vacant building contains a low-rise bay with a larger adjacent structure. It presents an attractive development opportunity. |
| The former Acme Warehouse site, near the Philadelphia Zoo abuts Fairmount Park and is strategically located blocks from I-76 and within 1.5 miles of Center City. It too offers a wide range of development opportunities. | |
